Convergence Modeling and Reproduction of a Bigyeokjincheolloe (Bomb Shell) Based on Three-dimensional Scanning and γ-ray Radiography

The Bigyeokjincheolloe (bomb shell), a scientific cultural heritage, has outstanding historical value for sustaining gunpowder weapon of Joseon. In this study, the bomb shell was modeled through three-dimensional (3D) scanning centered on external shape and γ-ray radiography-based internal shape. particular, to improve contrast in radiographic image, optimization image processing were performed. After these processes, thickness inner wall (2.5 cm average) positions three mold chaplets clearly revealed. For exhibition purposes, 3D model output printer rendered realistic by coloring. addition, functional elements, such as Mokgok, fuse, mud, gunpowder, caltrops, reproduced handwork. results will contribute study digital heritages two ways. First, shapes fusing different technologies, namely, radiography. Second, constructed from original form data reproduction utilized museum exhibitions. developed modeling approach greatly expand scope exhibitions, those content content.
